CZ BIOM – Czech Biomass Association
Business Activities: The Czech Biomass Association was established in 1994 and it employs ten experts and currently represents roughly 160 companies and other members. The Czech Biomass Association (CZ Biom) is a non-governmental non-profit organization and professional association supporting the development of phytoenergy in the Czech Republic. CZ Biom is the Czech Republic’s biggest professional organisation engaged in biomass production and use. It currently represents roughly 160 firms and members. CZ Biom is a member of AEBIOM (European Biomass Association) and the World Biomass Association. CZ Biom is active as the lead partner of individual work packages in the areas of R&D and dissemination projects at the national and European level. In those programmes is CZ Biom mainly focused on bioenergy, biofuels and biomaterials. CZ Biom has been a partner in several EU funded projects.
CZ Biom is at the moment cooperating on several EU funded projects from the 7th Framework Programme (FP7), Intelligent Energy for Europe (IEE) programme and Central Europe program (ERDF). One of the most prestigious projects of the present time of CZ Biom was the preparation of the Czech national Biomass Action Plan for the Czech Ministry of Agriculture following the recommendation in EU COM(2005)628. The main activities of CZ Biom consist of dissemination and research activities by yearly organizing or co-organizing 8 to 10 expert conferences and publishing its own printed bulletin. For the broad public CZ Biom distributes general information material, such as practical information on the use of biomass for energy purposes for local governments or information material for education (teaching aids). For the distribution of its information materials CZBIOM uses different information channels, most of all its own website, leaflets, educational films and press releases.
Role in the project: CZ Biom is the Exploitation Manager of EcoLASTANE and represents the Czech phytoenergy industry by its more than 160 associates.
- EXPLOITATION of EcoLASTANE: As the Exploitation Manager by means of Dr. Petr Tluka, CZ Biom’s primary role will be the use of results (IPR holding, patent filling, and all necessary activities) envisaged the Use and Dissemination WP6. CZ Biom will produce the Plan of Use and Dissemination together with TECHTERA. CZ Biom will contribute to the dissemination of results 1 to 3 among its associates and to updates with the progress of the project among its associates during the project.
- RTD and DEMO activities: CZ Biom will also contribute to the validation of EcoLASTANE technology for bio-based monomers done by NUTRAFUR through the feedback received from its associated members in order to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the industry that they represent. CZ Biom will contribute to post- project dissemination activities (congress, fairs, workshops, etc.), especially among the biomass sector.
- Coordination activities: Other roles will be back-up in coordination tasks, communication within the consortium and further tasks derived from being crucial members of the Project Board.
